About Families4Life and its Community
The name of this meeting place, or community, is www.Families4Life.com – and it comes with various connotations including families for life (as in we are all part of a family forever), families for a long life (families have longevity and history), families within the 4 corners of the world (families co-existing with each other in the world), families are the cornerstone of society (families are the building blocks of society), and the concept of Families (like Life) is valued.
www.Families4Life.com is a non-denominational, a-religious and a-political meeting place for families who want to be effective and happy. As far as our religious beliefs go, we are proudly Christian, however, this is the only time (on this page) you will hear about religion.
What brand of religion, or non-religion you are, does not matter and is not relevant. What is relevant is that you participate in www.Families4Life.com so you can enrich and empower your own family life.
The www.Families4Life.com community is managed by Gerry and Joanne Faehrmann. Our mission is to provide useful, helpful information and motivation for families wanting to be more successful, effective and happy.
However, www.Families4Life.com will cover issues that are debatable and contentious. We do not pretend to be, and are not Family Counselors, and nor do we have these sort of tertiary qualifications apart from Gerry’s Bachelor of Surveying degree (University of New South Wales, Sydney) and a Masters of Business Administration degree (Macquarie University, Sydney), and Joanne’s Bachelor of Nursing degree (Deakin University, Canberra), and of course, years and years of valuable life experiences (from the School of Hard Knocks, Sydney) managing a tribe of 6 children.
We are a happy family of 8 people: Mum, Dad and 6 kids. We believe that our family’s richness is in the diversity of personalities, abilities and disabilities – and believe us we have many!
We want to share with others what works and what hasn’t worked for us in raising our family. Of course, not all that we say will resonate with you, or be right for you. That’s OK as well!
A couple of paragraphs (below) from a best-selling book that summarises what is beautiful about Families striving to be more successful:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
It was mentioned above that at times we will talk about things that may be contentious. Contentious yes, but never deliberately hurtful. We commend alternative view points, but like any blog we will always have the last say; and any spiteful, harmful and derogatory comments will not be published. This Community is designed to help and empower people and families, and not to divide them. So, like we constantly say to our children, “If you cannot say something nice about a person, then say nothing!”.
